Nay, by the Moon 32 By the receding night 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until death approached us". 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
