Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
