Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
