The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers; 1 Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 2 Who shun all frivolities, 3 those who pay the zakat; 4 those who safeguard their chastity 5 except with their wives, and what their right hands possess -- for then they are free from blame, 6 (but whosoever seeks after more than that, those are the transgressors) 7 and who preserve their trusts and their covenant 8 and who guard their Prayers. 9 These are indeed the inheritors. 10 that shall inherit Paradise; and in it they shall abide for ever. 11 Indeed We created man from a chosen soil. 12 Thereafter We made him of a sperm in a receptacle safe. 13 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! 14 After that, at length ye will die 15 and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up. 16 And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful. 17 We sent down water from the sky in due measure, and lodged it in the earth, and We are able to take it all away. 18 And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. 19 And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat. 20 You have a lesson in livestock. We provide you with drink from what is in their bellies, and you have many other benefits from them; some of them you eat, 21 And you are carried on them and on boats. 22
