Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
