Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
