The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
