Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the stars are obliterated 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 then placed it in a secure repository [the womb], 21 For a known calculated term. 22 See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will. 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 Neither shady nor protecting against the blazing Fire. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 nor shall they be given permission, so that they can apologize. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
