Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 Then by oath of those that lift and carry. 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Indeed what you are promised, will surely befall. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 To what day is the doom fixed? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 for an appointed term? 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 “Which neither gives shade, nor saves from the flame.” 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
