The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
