The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
