The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
