The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
