The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
