The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
