The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
