The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 Pollution shun! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
