The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
