The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
