The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
