The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
