The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
