The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
