The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
