The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
