The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
