The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
