The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
