The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
