The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
