The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
