The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
