The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
