The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
