The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
