The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
