The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
