The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
