The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
