He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 May man be slain - how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
