He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and in awe [of God] 9 You neglect. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
