He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
