He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him thou attendest 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and fodder 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
