He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, joyous; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
