He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
