He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
