He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
