He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
