He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
