He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
