The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
